In the past, many pilots were of the opinion that a Full Stall is the best solution to “re-set” the glider after it had been completely “destroyed”. Today we know that in many cases this does not solve the problems or even causes worse ones. This is different with the 2-Stage Stall and the resulting Backfly (also called Flyback). This manoeuvre should be mastered by pilots who fly 2-liners or high aspect ratio / high-arc 3-liners. But note: the 2-Stage-Stall is not a manoeuvre that you should just try by yourself.
